Love Child follows the lives of staff and residents of the fictional Kings Cross Hospital and Stanton House in Sydney, starting in 1969 and continuing into the 1970s.

1969: Kings Cross, Sydney, the time and place Australia cam of age and a new generation broke the rules. It's the Summer of Love. Mick Jagger's in town, Australians are glued to the moon landing telecast and American sailors clash with anti-Vietnam war protestors in the streets.

Joan Millar (Jessica Marais), a maverick midwife, returns to Australia from swinging London to work in Kings Cross General Hospital in its busy maternity ward. Joan soon becomes entwined in the lives of a group of young, unmarried mothers who are seeing out their pregnancies behind the walls of Stanton House under the strict guidance of Matron s Bolton (Mandy McElhinney). But outside the gates the lights of Kings Cross beckon, promising freedom, sexual revolution, music and mayhem.

Love Child is about the birth of a new generation, seen through the eyes of a group of vibrant young women.

Over four seasons, the staff and residents of Kings Cross General and Stanton House display determination and courage as they face a new era head-on, fighting for freedom and change and ing each other through love, heartache...And the birth of many babies.
